How it all began

It started with friends taking a trip to Paraguay to volunteer at a girls home one of them who was from Paraguay had stumbled upon and 10 years later the partnership is still going strong! A mix of old friends and a couple of new ones, most in California but some as far away as Florida and British Columbia, with different backgrounds, vocations and talents, we are all unified in our mission to be the best Amigos our girls deserve!

In the Fall of 2025, Amigo de Paraguay Missionaries visited and encouraged the Scholars they support at the Casa de Esmeralda (Girl's Home) in Paraguay, S.A.

The Missionaries treated all of the girls, including our Scholars and staff from the Home to Horse-riding therapy. At first some of the girls were afraid but eventually everyone had a good time. A main focus of this trip was the importance of Mental Health. Fall 2025

Joanna, one of our Missionaries, is a professional psychologist and joined our team for the first time to share with the staff at the Home about trauma and Mental Health. Joanna is pictured here, teaching the girls, Scholars and staff about breathing slowly to calm themselves when they have anxiety. Fall 2025

This trip occurred during Paraguay's cultural celebration and one of our potential Scholars dressed in a traditional Paraguayan fashion and gave dancing lessons to other girls as well as our Missionaries. Fall 2025

A few of our future Scholars created home-made candles with Kay, one of our Missionairies. The candles are made with Yerba Mate, a native and favorite green tea of Paraguay. Fall 2025
