With the Scholar Program, we aim to focus our efforts on empowering these young ladies and offering them the guidance they need to flourish.
Our mission is simple yet powerful: to provide the necessary assistance and mentorship to equip these scholars with the tools and skills needed to succeed in life. We want to nurture their talents, provide healing (physical, mental, and Spiritual), inspire them to pursue higher education or technical programs, and help them build a solid foundation for their futures.
What does this look like?
We’re in frequent communication and collaboration with the local leaders of Esmeralda Home and the professionals caring for the girls (psychologists, social workers, etc). Just like friends, we’re there to support them, be a sounding board, and offer our thoughts and suggestions for programs that could benefit the girls.
One of our collaborations is the Scholar Program.
Our girls are growing up! And with that comes a lot of new expenses. We offer financial support for girls who are transitioning out of the Esmeralda Home and embarking on the rest of their lives. We help cover expenses while the girls are learning to stand on their own, such as post-secondary education, job training, living expenses, transportation and continuing healthcare needs. The path to adulthood can be overwhelming! So we also meet periodically with the girls to hear about their triumphs and their struggles, supporting them and cheering them on.
We may have an idea of what the girls are facing and how to help them, but until you go you don’t really know! So we organize trips to Paraguay to meet the girls and their caregivers and learn how best to serve them.
